About GFAA and the 7th<\/sup> edition GFAA Nominees<\/strong><\/p>\n

The GFAA program conducts extensive year-round research of curated exhibitions and installations across the globe, designating awards for group and themed exhibitions, as well as awards for solo artist shows. This year GFAA has selected 116 nominees which represent works in 6 continents, 31 countries and 68 cities. <\/strong>This edition features a new award, Best Digital Exhibition or Online Educational Program<\/em>, reflecting the current global conditions precipitated by the corona virus.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Exemplified by the two awards launched in 2017 \u2013 Global Planet and Global Humanity, GFAA is determined to continue to illuminate the best works produced every year voicing the connection of art and global concerns.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Geographic, scale, ethnic and gender diversity are essential in the GFAA research and nominee selection:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • 35 total collaborations, an unprecedented number of shows involving multiple institutions<\/li>\n
  • 21% of this year\u2019s Nominees are in or about <\/em>the art and artists of Asia, Africa and the Middle East<\/li>\n
  • 78% of the Best Photography category are by women artists or include women artists<\/li>\n
  • 32% of the Nominees are women in two of the highest profile categories \u2013 Best Contemporary and Post-War Art<\/em>, (deceased), <\/em>Best Contemporary and Post-War Art<\/em>, (living)<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Less than half of the GFAA Nominees included in Best Contemporary and Post-War Art<\/em>, (deceased), <\/em>Best Contemporary and Post-War Art<\/em>, (living) <\/em>are exhibitions by European or North American white males (42%)<\/li>\n
  • Less than half of the GFAA Nominees exhibited in the top 100 art museums visited in the world (The Art Newspaper, <\/em>April 2017), whereas the majority emanate from smaller institutions and other venues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This year, our GFAA Judges selected 15 Winners \u2013 one in each of the following award categories: Contemporary and Post-War- solo artist (deceased); Contemporary and Post-War- solo artist (living); Contemporary and Post-War- group or theme; Impressionist and Modern- solo artist; Impressionist and Modern- group or theme; Renaissance, Baroque, Old Masters and Dynasties- solo artist; Renaissance, Baroque, Old Masters and Dynasties- group or theme; Ancient Art; Photography; Design; Fringe; Public Art, Global Planet, Global Humanity and Digital (new in 2020). Youniversal, and YOU-2 are the two final awards, are given to the most popular nominees, and are selected by public voting on the GFAA website and social media.<\/p>\n
