Andres Ramirez, GFAA Co-Chair Art Research

Andres Ramirez is an architect and editor of art and architecture. Originally from Colombia, he worked as a Diplomat in Panama, and studied in New York before moving to Miami in 2014.

Ramirez received his Bachelor of Architecture from Pontificia Universidad Javieriana, and a Masters in Journalism from the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia. Subsequently, he received a Master’s in Art Business from the Graduate School, Sotheby’s Institute of Art in New York.

He has worked for over a decade as an architect while also creating and co-founding the arts and culture magazine Summus in 2009.

Ramirez is Editor-in-Chief, and his publication reaches an audience of over 100,000 cultural aficionados in Latin America, with primary distribution in Colombia. Recent issues of Summus include cover stories and feature articles on Massimiliano Gioni, Rosa de la Cruz, Craig Robins and Jorge Perez.

In 2012, Ramirez moved to Panama to serve as the Cultural Attaché for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Embassy of Colombia. In this role, he conceptualized, planned and led the Annual Art Program. This included the production and all logistics of exhibitions with a multitude of collections and art institutions: Sura Collection, “Four Decades of Art in Colombia”, “Colombian Art Masters,” and “From Modernism to Nowadays,” Panamá Contemporary Museum of Art.

Last year, Ramirez moved to Miami where he continues to run his magazine remotely and works for the architecture firm Itecdesign.
